Embrace Your Future, a Long-Term Care Awareness Campaign launched
Patrick-Murray Administration Launches "Embrace your Future" Campaign to Promote Long-Term Care Planning
The Massachusetts Executive Office of Elder Affairs, Governor Deval Patrick, and the UMass Medical School have launched "Embrace Your Future", a public awareness campaign to promote the benefits of planning ahead for long-term care options. In addition to information sessions, public service announcements and resources, Governor Patrick will reach out to 400,000 Massachusetts households as part of the campaign.
This Long-term Care Awareness campaign comes in recognition of the rapid rise in the senior population that is upon us. Massachusetts has joined with twenty-four other states and the federal government in launching the campaign. Sixty percent of older Americans will eventually need assistance with health and personal needs and activities of daily living - costly services not covered by Medicare.
"Embrace your Future" is the name of the campaign as well as the title of a 44-page Massachusetts-specific Long-term support guide available free, and mailed to anyone requesting a copy. You can download a copy at www.800ageinfo.com or call (866)-752-6582. The booklet offers options for controlling your future by planning ahead.
Most of us don't ever think we will need long-term supports. Many of us learn about long-term supports the hard way - when we or a loved one need care. The earlier in our lives we make plans and take action, the more likely we are to have a secure later life. Have you started planning ahead for long-term care?
